Camping Operations Order:

Mission :  Sat  JULY  17-18-19,  2026    CAVING TRIP     Cave Trip to CARTER CAVES 

On Friday, we will meet at the church at 530 to load gear then depart at 6 pm sharp for Carter Caves Ky.

We will be camping in the CC camping primitive area.

Saturday go caving inside Laurel and Horn Hollow Cave.   (see caving packing list below)

 

Bring a LARGE trashbag to put your caving clothes in afterwards. They WILL be dirty. Really dirty.

We do have some helmets (required) but you may want to bring your own (a bike helmet can work), as well as work gloves (not snow) and knee & elbow pads.

You are also required to have 3 sources of light.  Flashlight, headlamp, etc.  THREE!  It's a magic number.

 

There may be time for swimming since they have a pool.  Bring a suit just in case.

We will depart at 6pm  Fri eve , and return about  Sunday 1:00 pm.

__CLASS A UNIFORM for travel

__3 sources of light , Flash light / Head light ,etc, Batteries for them

__Cave Clothes (some kind of sweat wik clothing or wool shirt/sweater, wool socks, so you dont get cold when wet)

__Helmet    (rock climbing helmet or even a bicycle helmet) Rock are hard.

__Gloves

__Knee Pads

__Wool Socks

__Duct Tape

__Large Trash bags (for putting wet clothes into after the cave)

 Carryon for the bus:

In a plastic bag – bring the clothes you will change into after travel (we will leave ALL uniform pieces – including Scout socks on the bus so we can travel home in clean uniforms).

NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES    (gameboys, DVD players, phones)

NOTICE!!
Sheath, butterfly, and survival type knives, etc. are not allowed on
the reservation. IF brought, the Scoutmaster should hold them until the Scout returns home. 

All fuel (propane, white gas) must be checked in and held by an adult until it is needed. Only adult leaders should handle fuel.
