fuel (propane, white gas) must be checked in and held by the Camp PATROL BOX Each patrol should have their own camping box (Patrol Box) to carry the patrol's equipment needed for the campout. See Patrol Box contents list SCOUT PACKING LIST Basically there are 4 types of camping for Troop 73 and three different types of packing lists: 1. Is what we call base camping these would be events like Webelos Woods or Camp McKee or the secret spot at the Red River Gorge where gear will not have to carried over half a mile. During this type of camping will not require you to go as light, but you dont want to be wasteful with space and weight (a scout is thrifty). For this type of campout the following is recommended: _____ Tent (to be shared with buddy / buddies) _____ Sleeping bag (weather appropriate) _____ Sleeping Mat _____ 2 water bottles 1 liter each non breakable _____ Day Pack (sometimes) _____Personal Hygiene Equipment (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, etc) _____ Scout Handbook _____ Folding chair _____ Mess Kit _____ Good Rain Gear 2. Back pack camping this is where we will be hiking in and an ounce in the morning will feel like a pound in the evening. These are the types of hikes where we might be going several miles into the wilderness and you should pack as light as possible without leaving critical items behind. For this type of camping the following is recommended: _____ Backpack _____ Tent (shared with a buddy) _____ Sleeping bag (smaller not big, bulky and heavy) _____ Smaller mess kit _____ 2 water bottles 1 liter each and an optional water bladder _____ Good, broken-in hiking boots _____ Good socks (usually two pair worn at the same time these socks are made of different types of material to avoid blisters) a liner sock made from polyester or nylon and an outer sock made of wool _____ Hiking Clothes nylon, polyester in layers protective layer from rain, warmth layer for cold, wicking layer for sweat _____ Survival kit whistle, compass, personal first aid kit, survival blanket, matches, pocket knife, insect repellant, sun screen _____ Wide brimmed hat _____ Gloves (a pair for cold weather and a pair for hot weather) _____ Good Rain Gear _____Personal Hygiene Equipment (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, etc) _____ Scout Handbook 3. Day Hikes where we might go to a small trail or canoeing. This list may be highly altered, but for most trips the following list will be acceptable: _____ Day Pack _____ Survival kit whistle, compass, personal first aid kit, survival blanket, matches, pocket knife, insect repellant, sun screen _____ 2 water bottles 1 liter each and an optional water bladder _____ Good, broken-in hiking boots _____ Good socks (usually two pair worn at the same time these socks are made of different types of material to avoid blisters) a liner sock made from polyester or nylon and an outer sock made of wool _____ Scout Handbook _____ Good Rain Gear 4.
