RRG Campout
MISSION:

RIVER GORGE , Whittleton Arch hike
This is our 5 mile hike campout to our regular
campsite on Tunnel Ridge Road.
We will all meet at the church at 530-6pm to load the trailer. (tho
we may not take the trailer) We will then
depart at 6pm and travel from there to our campsite at Fort Ancient.
TRAVEL PLAN HERE
On Saturday
we will hike along
Whittleton Arch to Natural Bridge. It is a 2nd Class
Rank req. 3b - 5 mile hike.
For the hike, Bring at
minimum a 1/2 GALLON JUG OF
WATER (link: like
this juice container , or
large
camelback)
DO
NOT IGNORE THIS AND SHOW UP WITH THE STANDARD 16 oz BOTTLE!
Hiking makes you very thirsty
This is
Kentucky, the weather may be COLD or it may be HOT ,
or you may experience these simultaneously, so bring appropriate
clothing for both.

pizza. (bring money, say $5-$10)

Since we are hiking, wear
a sports
shirt that will wick moisture off you. DO NOT WEAR
COTTON. You will sweat.

every scout must be
driven to the camp in their own vehicle. No ride sharing
except family members

stay 6 feet apart

every scout will
sleep in his own tent. (brothers can share a tent)

ONLY designated cooks
for the weekend will handle food.

NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES
ALLOWED ON TRIP. (cell phones, gameboys, DVD players)
NOTICE!!
Sheath, butterfly, and survival type knives, etc. are not allowed on
the reservation. IF brought, the Scoutmaster should hold them until the Scout
returns home.
All fuel (propane, white gas) must be checked in and held by an adult until it
is needed. Only adult leaders should handle fuel.
